The ring
I’ll tell you a story.
My brother Thiago Ramos de Sousa is an architect. And he’s actually one of the best people I know - enthusiastic and a dreamer.
Between his hours working as a real estate manager in a global company, he started going to baseball games in Brazil. Yes, living abroad all of our childhood, he became in love with baseball and has been an avid fan of Babe Ruth and Jose Canseco.
So he created a Brazilian baseball team.
(He didn't need to do that, but I told you he’s enthusiastic and a dreamer).
Yes, he created a team. In an unbelievable series of events, they won the Brazilian championship, he became known in the local community, and with these new social connections he discovered a future star, a 16-year old boy who can throw a 95-mph ball.
Next thing you know, the Houston Astros reached out to him to see if he could take a new gig.
Somehow, he became a scout for the Houston Astros. He signed two future stars, one of them elected All Star in the Dominican Summer League.
He’s still an architect. He’s still a project manager.
But during his free hours, he’s a scout. In Brazil.
By chance or fate, the Houston Astros won the World Series in 2017.
You know that ring they win?
When a team wins, the whole staff gets a ring. Not just the players.
The whole staff, including scouts.
So that’s how my brother, a Brazilian architect, won a diamond World Series Ring.
Be enthusiastic. Be a dreamer.
